Several tips for when you receive a massage..
-Recommend you not to eat before receiving a massage.
-Be on time (cancellation of an appointment less than 24 hours beforehand will incur a nominal fee of $40).
-Make sure you give the massage therapist all health information so he can give the proper massage just right for you.
-Good communication is very important. Before the session, let your massage therapist know what you need. During the session, let your therapist know of any distractions and give feedback to the therapist afterwards so he can better serve you the next time you go in.
-Don't be afraid to discuss anything you need. It is important you be comfortable.
-Breathing helps to facilitate relaxation. Remember to breathe throughout the session.
-Try not to tighten up your muscles while receiving a massage. It will counteract against the therapists efforts to relax your muscles. You might need to inform the therapist if this happens.
-If you get uncomfortable during the massage, please inform the therapist right away. You have the right to end the session if necessary.
-Do not get off the table too quickly after a massage, you could get dizzy or light-headed.
-ALWAYS DRINK EXTRA WATER AFTER A MASSAGE.
-Massage has its greatest benefits over time. One session might not dissolve everything. It's better to receive a massage bi-weekly.
The first session...
When you come in for your appointment, you will fill out a health intake form and a consent form. The health intake form is where you record any medical history. Once you are finished, the therapist will escort you to the room, ask about the reason(s) you're receiving a massage, your current physical condition and any specific areas you'd like the therapist to focus on during your massage.
Once in the room, your massage therapist will leave the room and wait outside while you disrobe to your level of comfort. Some clients prefer to completely disrobe, while some will remain partially clothed. Once disrobed, you will lie on the massage table, under the top sheet. Your massage therapist will give you a few minutes for this process and will knock on the door to ask if you are ready before entering your room.
You will always be draped with the top sheet during your massage session and an additional warm blanket is available at your request. Your therapist will only uncover the part of the body they are working on.
Please inform the therapist anytime throughout the session if a technique or stroke they are using is uncomfortable.
Once your massage session is completed, the therapist will leave the room so you can re-dress. The length of the sessions includes a 5 minute pre-interview and 5 minutes at the end for you to re-dress.
Remember to drink lots of water!!
